Creating & viewing maps
Every MapTango account is created with a default map. You can post all of your information to this map, or you can create additional maps and segment your information. To create additional maps, click ‘map views’ in the navigation bar to the left of your map. A list of your maps is displayed.
- To create a new map view, click the ‘New View’ button
- Create a name for your new map
- Create a description for the map
- Click 'Select Icon' if you'd like to change the default icon for your map
- Click the ‘Create’ button
Additionally, you can also choose which maps you'd like to view from your list, as well as from other people you follow. You can check or uncheck all maps on the list, or select specific maps to view, then click the 'Update Map' button.
For example; if you have a map which displays information and photos from your trip to Hawaii, and your friend has a map with similar information, you can select these maps from both of your lists and view them together. You can also continue to add information to your respective maps and communicate with each other.

Edit or delete your posts.
You can always edit your posts by clicking 'Edit' at the bottom of the pop-up bubble for that particular post on the map. In addition to editing the text for your post, you can change the location on the map, replace the image, or even move the post to another one of your maps. To delete your post, click 'Remove' at the bottom of the pop-up bubble for that particular post. A small window will appear, asking to confirm the removal.
Character Counts
MapTango posts are limited to 255 characters. The 160 character count is the limit for SMS messages minus 20 characters for your username. The 137 character count is displayed to account for a short URL added to your posts when MapTango updates your other social networks. This MapTango generated URL will link back to your map and display the corresponding Post.
Following people on MapTango
To follow other people, i.e., to view their updates on your map, you must click 'follow' under their profile photo and post count. The 'follow' button will change to 'following' and display a check mark on those you follow. You can stop following someone by clicking the 'following' button.
